3/7/08 Updates
Negotiations
We just finished another session and have four more scheduled for April and
early May. We are very close on workload but have some things to work out
yet. We still have insurance and salary to talk about along with a few
other topics. Our goal is to come to a tentative agreement before school
is out. Cross your fingers. This has been slow but not contentious.

MPFT Officers
When Mike and I entered into the President and VP positions, we decided
that we were in it together. So, we made the decision together to not run
for next year. We hope some new folks step forward and we're willing to
help in any transition. Please think about the future of your Federation
and how you can serve.
Surveys
Next week you will receive a survey from Org Development regarding new
faculty orientation. They're calling it Faculty Academy. Please take
time to complete it and provide them with insight into what you believe is
needed for new faculty.
After break, you will receive two more surveys. One is from IT, similar to
the one we filled out two years ago regarding our IT use and training
needs. The other is from Org Development regarding your performance
development opportunities. It's really important that we have a good
response to these because our future training offerings will be based on
the results. As the final question of the Org Development survey, you'll
be asked if you'd participate in a focus group. These groups will look at
the survey results and help formulate recommendations for training
offerings. Getting our input into this is a huge step for us. For those
that were around last time training was developed, you can remember how
painful it was to attend the training that others decided we needed in a
one-size-fits-all format. We have worked very hard to have this inclusion
in the planning, so please participate in the surveys and the focus groups.
