Welcome Back, MPFT Members!

The "contracted" section of our school year has begun in earnest, and once again we've got more to do than time to do it. I know any major work around my house will be coming to a screeching halt, unless of course I can get my son to do it. Well, only 9 months until next summer, right?

Among the things that need to be done to keep our MPFT house in order is the selection of delegates to the AFT-Wisconsin Annual Convention. This year's convention will be October 27th through 29th in Appleton. In accordance with Article VIII of the AFT-Wisconsin Constitution, we will be accepting nominations for these delegate positions, and then having a secret ballot election. It looks like we'll have the opportunity to send at least 10 delegates, depending on our actual faculty head count. We'll close nominations at noon on September 10, 2010. Ballots will be printed and delivered to your school mailboxes, which must properly cast and returned to your Building Representative by noon on September 24, 2010. Ballots will be counted and the winners notified.

We'll once again be looking for energetic people with a desire to make your union better to fill these positions. While we're at it, Julie Lotto has submitted her resignation from the Nominations and Elections Committee (ONLY!) after many years of outstanding service to this organization. We all thank her for this and much more. If anyone is interested in filling her position on this committee, please let me know so we can get Christine some help. :-)

Don't forget to RSVP for the General Assembly Meeting at Camelot on August 19.
